Spring Inspiration 2012

It’s springtime and as nature renews life, the land of beauty is also ready for a renewal with great new products and the reinvention of some of the classics.

This year, our spring beauty inspirations include bursts of bright colors that are very reminiscent of jewel tones. On the runway, our designer friends are giving us emerald greens, fiery oranges, electric blues, vibrant maize and intense purples.
Now you are thinking, “ how am I going to put all these colors into my look?” The key to making trends work is not to take everything that every fashion and beauty segment is showing and put it together!
The idea is for you to work these colors into your own personal style. One thing is to remain true to yourself and your own style. For example if its not your personality or style to wear bright colors over the eye, don’t wear it in your crease to add a pop of color. One thing that I thrive on is making new items fit into a Beauty’s make up bag not totally remaking her. Lets face it; its super expensive and some mass-market products are Great!!
Here’s few of my fav’s for working Bursts of Color into your look!!

Emerald Green

Fiery Orange

Electric Blue

Vibrant Maize

Intense Purple

** Pencils are great because they come in soooooo many shades to change your look. Plus, they come in every Classic and Trendy Color.

On the 9th Day of Christmas...

On the 10th Day of Christmas…

My True love gave to me… Lady Gaga’s Viva Glam

The gift of Giving and Gaga. During this time of year, we have to remember those who are in need and some that are in the struggle of their life.  MAC donates year round, but Santa apparently found some left over goodies. Because Lady Gaga’s Viva Glam lipstick that is a limited edition has resurfaced.  YES!!!!
In 1994 MAC introduced the  first of the Viva Glam family to the masses in support to men, women and children who are living with HIV and AIDS.  Although there have been 6 fabulous colors and finishes, none have reached the popularity when MAC collaborate with Lady Gaga.  Lady Gaga introduced two colors staying true to the mega stars’ persona. The first color is a nice light Maude pink with a creamy “semi mate” just like MAC Luste line.  The second is a warm light golden beige with a “dazzle” finish like their Amplified finish lipsticks.  So we get two gorgeous colors that can go with any skin tone (may need a few products for some) and once again all proceeds benefit those living with HIV and AIDS. Every single cent goes to those who are in need, who could ask for anything more.  Enjoy Beauties!

What would go GREAT with this product? Anything!!

Price: $14.50   Lady Gaga Viva Glam 1 or 2 Limited Edition

MAC: Your Local MAC store or Counter in Macy’s, Nordstrom’s

On the 3rd Day of Christmas

On the 3rd Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me…

Hello Beauties,

Lets talk brows! Filing in your brows is one of the most important things to do, but more often than not most Beauties tend to neglect them.
Brows are very important to the over all look and once you start filling them in its very hard not too. Even when I don’t do a full-face, two things I never leave home without are Brows and Mascara!
What better way to create the perfect brow is with an easy tool! It’s been my experience that when you are new to creating a brow, this is the easiest way. Pens tend to be more natural looking, easier to correct mistakes and really ease you into the new look.  There are a lot of products out there, but one of my favs is MAC’s Penultimate Brow maker.
This felt like tip is simple to control and glides on super easy.  It gives a natural looking finish and it blends well on skin and hair. You can use this Universal Pen as a base to increase your current brow products staying power or to fill in sparse areas to create fuller look. Our Beauties with darker brows, I tend to do two things, layer the product a base and then go over with a powder.
The formula is quick-drying formula making it long wearing and smudge proof.

Color: Universal (medium brown)
Where: MAC stores, www.macosmetics.com, www.ebay.com and Fine Department Stores
Price: $16.50

Morning after another Pink Friday w/ Nicki Minaj

Okay Beauties!

You only have 2 more Pink Fridays to order the limited edition. Trust if you want to try, you must get online before 12am in order to get one. As you probably know by now that you can only order it online. TRUST ME! It was really worth it! If you like MAC’s Pink Nouveau, then you will like this. It’s a bright creamy pink! This is a must have if you love a pink lipstick! You can even layer it on top of a red to tone it down or add definition to the lip!  The cool thing is that it’s what I like to call porcelain and brown girl ready, which means that it’s a color that everyone can wear. Don't be afraid! Step Out of the Box!!

Jazz it up for the Holiday

Hello Beauties,

It’s that time of year when the parties are in full effect and no one will judge you!! There will be Hanukkah parties, Christmas parties and then the grand finale or the first bang of course which is New Years’ Eve.

My best advice to jazz up your look would be the easiest… pick the best red for you!!! YES, I said RED! Red is one of the best colors that can give your look an update. Trust I know that you may be thinking/saying “She’s crazy and I’ll look like a harlot”!! That’s not the case. At least not anymore. Fashion magazines and Runways have been telling us it’s the next best thing and especially this past season. When even Sephora got in on the action and added a Beauty Studio Make up Lesson, so we can walk in and find our perfect red!

Of course it depends on your complexion so here is a few guidelines

Porcelain Princess Beauties: Nicole Kidman, Dita Von Teese
Olive Beauties: Kardashians
Pecan Beauties: Eva Longoria, Alicia Keys
Carmel Beauties: Iman, Beyonce Knowles
Godiva Girl Beauties: Alec Wek

What color red works best with your complexion!
I know that you are thinking a red is a red!
Reds come in a variety of blue, pink or orange base.
If you are a Porcelain Princess an orange-based red will be a perfect match.
If you are on of my Pecan Beauties or my Olive Beauties then a true red or even a blue base would be sooo beautiful!
If you are one of my Carmel Beauties or Godiva Beauties a blue will be a great tone.

Some of my Fav’s
Kay Von D: Hell bent and Underage
MAC: Russian red, Red Pepper (not sure if this is available anymore) J, Viva Glam I.
MUFE: has 14 reds alone!! How can you not find one! The most popular is 21 and 43
Nars: Red Lizard, Afghan Red

When trying out a new color, (not just red) look in the mirror with an open mind. Take a second to get used to it, instead of just saying, “I don’t like it”. It's going to be a shock because you aren't used to seeing yourself with it.

Good Luck Beauties!

Here’s great site!
